This is a fitting day to begin our yearly efforts to reduce gun deaths and injuries in Arizona, as gun violence hurts brown and Black communities the most.
In fact, Black men between the ages of 15 and 34 are nine times more likely than white men of the same age to be killed by a gun.

Monday, January 8, 2024, marked the 13th anniversary of the Tucson shooting, in which 6 people were killed and 12 injured. We were thinking of Gabby Giffords, Pam Simon, Daniel Hernández and all the others as we attended the press conference in the former Rose Garden.
We expect that many of the bills we defeated last year will be back, including:
Over the last five years, we’ve succeeded in pushing back on a lot of bills that would have made Arizona less safe for all of us. Last year, Gov. Hobbs vetoed 8 of them, thanks to letters and calls from people like you. She notes the impact of the community's response in her veto letters.
We can't assume that Gov. Hobbs will save us this year, as we still have a lot of "guns-everywhere" enthusiasts serving in the Arizona legislature. We need to contact her when there's a dangerous gun bill moving through the Legislature.
We also need to contact our legislators to make sure that good gun bills, like Christian's Law, get hearings, too.
